WHY IS ISLAND GLITTER DIFFERENT TO STANDARD GLITTER?
Standard glitter is made of more than 90% plastic and does not biodegrade. Like. EVER!
Plastic glitter ends up washed down the sink, shower or toilet and eventually reaches sea creatures via waterways. All in all, it is incredibly bad for the environment.
Island Glitter is the eco-friendly alternative.
HOW DOES ISLAND GLITTER BIODEGRADE?
Island Glitter biodegrades when left to compost in a natural environment. It doesn’t biodegrade in water but requires microorganisms to transform it into harmless substances; carbon dioxide, water and biomass. The speed depends on the environment but it usually biodegrades within 28 days.
This core is certified compostable in both industrial (EN13432, EN14995, ASTM D6400, ISO 17088) and home composting environments (OK Compost Home) and also marine biodegradation approved to ASTM D6691-09. No other glitter film material currently matches this criteria.
IS IT 100% BIODEGRADABLE?
No. Island Glitter is 92% biodegradable. Not everything has to be 100% biodegradable to be safe. The lovely shine is from the aluminium coating which is the most abundant and naturally occurring metal on earth, this will never biodegrade!
WHAT IS THE SHELF LIFE OF ISLAND GLITTER?
Don’t worry, it won’t biodegrade in the pot!
Island Glitter has a shelf life of 3 years, use within 24 months to be on the safe side.
All Island Glitter adheres to:
- EC Cosmetic Regulation 1223/2009 and FDA Title 21 CFR Cosmetic Regulation.
- Japanese, Chinese, Australian and Korean cosmetic regulations.
- European Toy Safety Standards; both EN71-2: 2011 for flammability and EN71-3: 2013 A1: 20014 for migration of certain elements.
Take care around your peepers 👀! Glitter in the eye is never fun, even when it is as nice as ours. If direct contact with your eyes occurs, wash out thoroughly with clean water and seek medical advice if irritation occurs.
Island Glitter is not a toy and should be kept out of reach of children.
Stay safe glitter lovers.
IS IT SAFE TO USE FOR CHILDREN’S FACE PAINTING?
Yes. We get lots of makeup artists who want to use this for face-painting parties. It is FDA approved and cosmetic quality so it is totally safe for little faces. Please do not leave children unattended with it.
